Description
Description | The functional Bratislava city region extends beyond the borders of Slovakia and also includes municipalities in Lower Austria and Burgenland. The "BAUM2020" project (BAUM stands for Bratislava Territorial Management) establishes an intermediary platform that 1.) promotes cross-border governance and institutional cooperation and 2.) creates structures to support small cross-border projects. The core outputs of the project are the permanent institutionalization of a BAUM governance platform for Bratislava, Lower Austria and Burgenland on the one hand, and the involvement of 25 organizations in cross-border, institutional cooperation on the other hand. The project´s main target groups are Eight Bratislava municipalities and 14 Austrian municipalities close to the border and they also represent the local focus of the project implementation. The project´s core will be a joint coordination office in Bratislava, which will be have both an Austrian and a Slovak project manager. The project aims to deepen the flow of information as well as the cooperation of Slovak and Austrian actors in the fields of "Smart Mobility", "Space & Environment" and "Local and Municipal Cooperations". A wide variety of formats are used for regional stakeholders - eg. regular meetings of mayors, annual BAUM conference, expert working groups and joint planning processes. The project should also take up existing proposals for cross-border cooperation (e.g. from the preceding project BAUM 2011-2014) and initiate their implementation. At the same time, of course, new impulses for the growing together of the dynamic region should be set. The safeguarding of the durability of the BAUM project service, which is on the agenda as part of its own project activity, is particularly important. |
