The Project Development Objective to support the development of new technologies and catalyze financing for low-carbon industrial commodities and fuels across selected industrial and energy value chains in BrazilThe financial resources provided by the Project will enable these companies to incorporate innovative technologies in their productive processes, utilizing a lower cost of capital. Local industries adopting new technologies to decarbonize the energy and industrial sectors will benefit from a first mover advantage and from the creation of green value chains that can help them to remain competitive. They may also benefit by obtaining green premiums for products that have reduced emissions throughout their production lifecycle. Developers of CUI will also provide spill over benefits throughout the value chain such as incentivizing the integration of additional renewable energy generation, developing new uses of clean hydrogen for the industry, such as SAFs, fostering circular economy for water usage and other utilities, and creating additional direct and indirect jobs. In addition, BNDES will benefit from acquiring new risk assessment skills for innovative technologies.
