Description | The Brazilian Maritime Museum, located in the city of Rio de Janeiro/RJ, aims to be the first public maritime museum in the country and the third of its kind in Latin America. The space where the Museum is intended to be implemented is located in the Espaço Cultural da Marinha (ECM), owned by the Brazilian Navy, opened in January 2006 and which, since then, has fulfilled its purpose of promoting awareness of the Brazilian maritimity, through the presentation of the history of man and the sea, its potential and riches. The ECM comprises, in addition to the space for the Museum itself, the museum ship Bauru, the submarine museum Riachuelo, the tug Laurinda Pitta, the Nau dos Descobrimentos, the museum helicopter Sea King, the Combat Car Cascavel and the fighter plane Skyhawk. There are also embarkation and disembarkation points in the area for tours to Ilha Fiscal and the sea tour through Guanabara Bay. Through Decree No. 10,716, of June 8, 2021, the museum project was included within the scope of the Investment Partnership Program, based on CPPI Resolution No. 179, of April 27, 2021. Phase 1 associated with the diagnosis and studies to propose alternatives for granting real estate assets and Navy assets has been completed. |
