Description
Description | Due to the increasing international migratory flows, dealing with this phenomenon has become a priority for EU countries. Migration process is produced out of necessity or to run away from a situation where lives are threatened. From the moment people arrive in the country of destination, the problem of the language barrier arises. Most immigrants don’t have any knowledge about the language of the hosting country. Therefore, there is a need of linguistic advice in order to deal with the initial administrative procedures, to understand the system of the country and to integrate into the new society. By connecting three European municipalities, this project has two main objectives. On the one hand, providing newcomers and municipalities with a series of resources in order to help them manage independently. On the other hand, raising awareness and developing the political and social understanding of the situation, so as the participating municipalities can take action accordingly. In addition, BE LOCAL wants to pay special attention to the refugees coming from Ukraine, due to the utmost importance of this humanitarian crisis which needs quick and effective actions. Over the course of 9 months, 3 international events will be held, one per municipality. In Novo Mesto (Slovenia) the topic of how to deal with the linguistic barrier will be discussed, in Warsaw (Poland) the creation of the resource sheet taking into special consideration Ukrainian refugees, and in Puçol (Spain) each municipality will present and share the results. Because we are dealing with a project involving people who are or have been in vulnerable situations, it is crucial to ensure dignity, respect and solidarity. This project will create links between citizens and institutions at local level and at UE level. Furthermore, BE LOCAL is aligned with EU principles and projects such as the Action Plan on Integration and Inclusion for 2021-2027 or the EU Anti-Racism Action Plan for 2020-2025 |
