The project involves the construction of a new courthouse building shared between the Child Care and Protection Board, the Zeeland-West Brabant Public Prosecutor and the Zeeland-West Brabant District Court in the Netherlands. The new building will hold three organizations, the Breda Court, the Breda-Middelburg District Public Prosecutor and the 'Raad voor de Kinderbescherming' (child council), under one roof. The 15-story structure, situated in close proximity to Breda's station, consists of three stacked sections featuring large window panels. This multifaceted building has been strategically positioned to make the most of natural daylight and solar heat, enhancing energy efficiency. Geothermal heating and cooling, harnessed from the adjacent De Mark canal, are employed to regulate the temperature throughout the entire building. The total area of the courthouse complex, excluding outdoor amenities, the nearby park, and parking space, spans approximately 33,000 sq m in gross floor area. With its impressive height of 66 m and its three distinct components (a concrete base, a central steel structure, and prefab concrete high-rise sections), this complex stands as a commanding and noteworthy addition to the city's skyline.
