Description
Description | As part of its Investment Plan, and in support of the Metro Vancouver Mayors’ Council Vision, TransLink has initiated a project to rehabilitate and upgrade the south stationhouse at Brentwood SkyTrain Station. The Brentwood SkyTrain Station is part of the Millennium Line and is situated in an area of significant urban development in the City of Burnaby. It has two new planned communities immediately adjacent to the station, including the SOLO District with four residential towers and 230,000 ft2 of office space, along with the redevelopment of the Brentwood Town Centre, which create 1,300,000 ft2 of retail space, 500,000 ft2 of office space, and multiple high-rise residential buildings. Development in the neighbourhood is anticipated to increase ridership demand at Brentwood SkyTrain Station. This project is designed to help improve the SkyTrain station by focusing on the south stationhouse. Specifically, the project is designed to: Improve customer experience and accessibility by installing an elevator from the ground level to mezzanine at the south stationhouse; Improve safety for customers by replacing the existing south stationhouse stairs from ground level to mezzanine level; and Support capacity improvements by installing a permanent CMBC operator washroom at the south stationhouse, to streamline bus and operator transition at the south stationhouse. |
