Description

Description

Eighteen bridges across South Carolina, including a dozen in the Grand Strand and Pee Dee, are slated for replacement after a $23.5 million package approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The project is supported by the DOT's BUILD program and aims to replace aging bridges, improve public safety, support local businesses, and strengthen community connections. Many of the bridges are over 100 years old, with nearly 40% in poor condition and having weight restrictions or closures. The bridges will be replaced either on existing alignment with detours or adjacent to existing alignment allowing through-traffic during construction.
