The pipeline is planned to carry at least 550,000 barrels of crude oil per day, with potential expansion to over 1 million barrels per day. The Canadian portion will be built by South Bow, a company spun off from TC Energy. The project aims to begin construction in 2027 and start operations in 2028, with a project cost of $2 billion. The pipeline route largely follows existing infrastructure and rights-of-way established by True Companies pipelines, avoiding federally recognized tribal lands. |
