Description
Description | BRIDGES Policy Experimentation Action (under Priority 9/ERASMUS-EDU-2024-POL-EXP) aims to demonstrate how education systems can create new levels of awareness and work towards a sustainable future, by developing innovative pathways for building sustainability competences. Specifically, it focuses on teaching for Sustainability Citizenship (SC), a concept that integrates principles of sustainability into the roles, responsibilities, and rights of citizens. It is a form of citizenship that acknowledges the importance of balancing economic, social, and environmental aspects to ensure a sustainable future for all. SC views citizenship as a total practice of responsibility between individuals and their political, social, economic and natural environment. BRIDGES will propose standards that introduce key features of SC in the national curricula. The determination of the key features that should govern the proposed standardization approach will be based on the concepts and the theoretical approaches deriving from recent educational research in the field of environmental education. The proposed SC model imparts a deep understanding of the context of implementation, the design of educational activities and related contents. Will demonstrate innovative ways to motivate and guide students in active and extended sustainability education. BRIDGES framework will emphasise on continuously assessing student understanding, supporting a classroom community with cooperation, shared responsibility and respect and working with other teachers from other disciplines to enhance the aims of the school curriculum. The project team will demonstrate the pathway towards a process that effectively introduces the key features of SC in the classrooms (students acting as “practitioner of SC”), as an essential step towards the development of strategies and programs that support teaching for SC. The project team will analyse this profile to identify components that relate to the desired competences. |
