The Bridgewater Bridge Replacement Project is the largest transport infrastructure project in Tasmania's history, involving the construction of a new 1.2-kilometre-long bridge with four traffic lanes and a 3-metre-wide shared path for pedestrians and cyclists. The new bridge replaces ageing infrastructure, improves traffic flow, reduces bottlenecks, supports freight movement, and enhances safety. It also features higher clearance for marine traffic and removes the old lift span to eliminate river traffic delays. The project created over 1000 jobs, with 85% going to Tasmanians, and included targeted employment and training programs for apprentices and trainees.
