Description
Description | Value4Pack originates from the S3 Partnership Food Packaging with the aim of strengthening the capacity, competitiveness and resilience of stakeholders in the European food packaging value chain, in particular in less developed regions, and their ability to address societal, environmental and economic challenges. Packaging is one of the most important links in the food supply chain as it is an essential element to address the challenges of sustainable food consumption. In contrast, packaging faces major challenges when it comes to its effect on the environment. To achieve the EU Green Deal goals, industry, in particular SMEs linked to the food packaging value chain, have a strong need for innovation and investments throughout the entire food packaging value chain, in which interregional cross-sector collaboration is essential. In this respect, less developed regions, in particular SMEs, need support in building and reinforcing resilient food packaging innovative ecosystems, that strengthens the connection between the penta-helix actors (i.e. industry – RTO’s – investors – regional authorities – consumers and NGOs). Value4Pack will boost innovation and investment capacity in the European food packaging value chain by building an interregional resilient innovations ecosystem between its relevant penta-helix actors. By facilitating interregional cooperation, Value4Pack will increase the capacity for regional innovation actors (in particular SMEs) in the food packaging value chain, especially in less developed regions, to engage in interregional innovation projects and initiatives, develop new business ideas, and make concrete interregional innovation investments for validated solutions that meet their needs. Moreover, through its bottom-up approach, Value4Pack will also support regional authorities in the entrepreneurial discovery process for the S3 priorities linked to food packaging, to design evidence-based and targeted policy interventions in the long-term. |
