Description

Description

Universities play a critical role in the generation and dissemination of knowledge. Increasingly academic researchers are involved in the translation of basic science, through participating in applied research projects or coming up with research findings that are of high practical relevance and foster innovation. To strengthen university-industry links, several initiatives have been taken to spur local economic development based on university research. In WB region, the need to reduce the academia-industry gap and increase entrepreneurial culture of HEIs is of utmost importance. The Tech2Link project aims to drive the economic development by leveraging intellectual property and research capabilities in WB HEIs through setting up Technology Transfer Hubs (TTHubs). The HUBs will serve as essential platforms for IP management, facilitating technology transfers, and aiding in the commercialization of academic research. The project’s objectives include (1) establishment of TTHubs to support IP management and regulations, facilitate technology transfer activities, and commercialize research findings, with a special focus on green solutions, digital transformation and AI integration; (2) enhancement of university entrepreneurship capacities through resources, mentorship, training programs and and networking events to foster start-up growth; (3) establishment of HEI-industry partnerships with industry stakeholders for joint research projects, technology licensing, and knowledge transfer; (4) increase of technology awareness and transfer by educating staff, students, alumni on entrepreneurial culture; (5) development of performance indicators and frameworks to assess the HUB activities' effectiveness in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development. By fulfilling these objectives, the Tech2Link project aims to cultivate a vibrant innovation ecosystem, encourage academia-industry collaboration, and stimulate regional economic advancement.
