Description
Description | "The ""Bright and Green Christmas in European Towns - Building a Sustainable Future"" project aims to address the pressing need for sustainability in Christmas celebrations across Europe. With the Municipality of Waterford, recognized as the European City of Christmas 2024, leading the initiative, this project will bring together municipal representatives, businesses, experts, and media influencers from nine European countries. The primary objective of the project is to promote sustainable practices in Christmas events, sharing knowledge, developing practical tools, and fostering cross-border collaboration. The event will focus on energy-efficient lighting, waste reduction, and eco-friendly decorations, while also emphasizing the role of women in driving sustainability. The project will enhance awareness of sustainability in Christmas events, support municipalities in implementing eco-friendly practices, and foster long-term collaboration across Europe. Emphasizing gender equality and the role of women, the project will also promote inclusivity and diverse leadership in sustainability efforts. Post-event, the project’s impact will be sustained through the continued use of the guide and online platform, as well as the ongoing activities of the European network. The knowledge and tools developed will contribute to more sustainable Christmas celebrations across Europe, ensuring lasting benefits for participating municipalities and their communities." |
