Description

Description

The project includes the design, construction, and partial financing of an approximately 5.7-kilometre long extension of the Millennium Line from west of VCC-Clark Station to a new terminus at Arbutus Street which will have six stops. 5 kilometres of the line will be in the bored tunnel.  Major underground works, such as tunneling and construction of underground stations, are required to complete the Project. The Project will, among other benefits, provide: A service with significant benefits to transit riders in the form of increased capacity, travel time savings, greater reliability, and improved customer experience; A solution to a critical gap in the regional transit network, thereby easing congestion at other transfer points; A reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by reducing automotive vehicle kilometres traveled (“VKT”) and replacing diesel bus B-Line service with electric SkyTrain service; Economic development through construction related (direct and indirect) job creation and tax revenue.
