Description

Description

This project comprises the rehabilitation of a hydrant, valve and approximately 30 meters of water main. The scope of the project involves digging down to the problem valve and frost-damaged water main, then draining the excavation (a naturally wet area) with the services of a hydrovac truck and operator from Thunder Bay (540 km away). The damaged water main, including sections north and south of the Tee-junction feeding the problem hydrant and the line to the hydrant will be replaced with 150-millimetre pre-insulated polyvinyl chloride pipe and the replaced valve and hydrant stem will be insulated. The objective is to avoid future line-freezes and resultant valve and water main damage with the anticipated outcome being a reliable water service to properties served by the line and reliable water supply for fire-suppression.
