Description
Description | The Brookside Wastewater Revitalization Project in the Municipality of East Hants, Nova Scotia aims to increase wastewater capacity for both short-term and long-term growth. This project addresses housing and infrastructure needs by rebalancing wastewater catchment areas to handle impacts from extreme weather events. The scope includes rebuilding the Poplar Drive Wastewater Lift Station, installing a wastewater force main from Poplar Drive to Highway 2, adding backup generators at Poplar Drive and Sportsplex Lift Stations, and modernizing stormwater infrastructure alongside Brookside Avenue. The project involves both design and construction phases, enabling the development of 128 residential units and setting up for future growth. It will alleviate pressure on existing infrastructure, prolonging the lifespan of pre-existing wastewater systems. The modernization of stormwater infrastructure will reduce inflow and infiltration challenges, and the backup generators will enhance resilience against power outages. The outcome will be increased housing capacity, improved infrastructure resilience, and support for further development in the region. |
