Description | The Browse gas project is a proposed $30 billion development involving the undeveloped Brecknock, Calliance and Torosa gas fields offshore north-west Western Australia. The project aims to supply liquefied natural gas with a forecast production capacity of 11.4 million tonnes per year and a peak light oil production rate of 50,000 barrels per day. The project partners include BP, Woodside, PetroChina, Mitsubishi, and Mitsui. Woodside is the project operator and is considering vetoing the purchase of a stake by Inpex, which has struck a deal to buy PetroChina's 10.67% stake. The project has not yet received environmental approval and faces opposition from climate activists. |
