Description | The work will involve an upgrade of the water treatment plants Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems as well as, the installation of pre-treatment mechanism (ozone or granular activated carbon), the installation of ultraviolet (UV) equipment and contact piping, the installation of a three-phase power supply, generator and epoxy coating to the interior of an existing reservoir, and an update to the existing chlorination system. Additionally, the project will also conduct a leak detection investigation and make any identified repairs. The project will benefit the community by helping prevent the possibility of contamination into reservoirs as well as, bring the level of contaminants down and into levels that are in compliance with federal and provincial regulatory standards. The work will improve the quality of drinking water in the community and is expected to extend the lifetime of the community’s water treatment system, ensure drinking water meets provincial regulatory standards and will increase the capacity to better meet community distribution demands. |
