BUCHANAN TOWN SQUARE STREETSCAPE - PHASE II

This project is a transportation enhancement in the City of Buchanan in Haralson County. The project will construct sidewalks, curb and gutter, seatwalls, lighting, street furniture and landscaping around the historic Old Haralson County Courthouse. Phase one included improvements on the storefront, or outside, part of the square, whereas the improvements to the courthouse, or inside, part of the square were designed but not implemented. Phase two improvements are intended to complete all streetscape improvements within the Buchanan downtown business district. Pedestrian amenties will include improved sidewalks around the perimeter of the square, surrounding on street parking, seatwalls for informal sitting and definition of the historic courthouse lawn, removal of some on street parking areas to add greenspace and pedestrian areas, new crosswalks and street lighting, and landscaping for the grounds of the historic courthouse and surrounding sidewalks.
