Description

Description	The Budge Budge Power Plant Unit-3 was a 250 MW unit being added to the existing 500 MW (2 X 250 MW) Budge Budge Thermal Power Station (TPS). The project was being implemented by the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) Ltd. CESC, a privately owned company, was incorporated in 1897 and is responsible for power generation and distribution in Calcutta and its suburbs. CESC owns and operates four coal-based generating stations with an aggregate capacity of 975MW in the State of West Bengal. The Budge Budge Unit 3 was estimated to cost USD 295 million and achieved financial closure in 2007. Work on Unit-3 started in the year 2006 and on 28th February, 2010, the 3rd Unit started commercial operation.
