BUFF Children and Youth Film Festivals 2024 and 2025

BUFF, the International Children and Young People’s Film Festival in Malmö, was founded in 1984 and is a non-profit organization. The aim was, and still is, to screen good films for children and young people as well as adults. BUFF is a meeting place for young people, people working with children and film, and the art of film. The festival strives to open the possibilities for more influences from Europe and the rest of the world by showing films that might never be screened for these audiences otherwise. In the cinema, we get to meet different cultures, hear foreign languages and tag along on endless adventures. BUFF considers children and young people to be the most exciting resource we’ve got, our future. This application concerns the two upcoming editions of BUFF, 2024 and 2025. These years we will continue screening a diverse and primarily European film program for young audiences in the region, but also establish a project where a selection of the festival films is made available for audiences throughout the country. We will also continue our successful online festival BUFF Play, established during the pandemic as well as further focus on joining professionals from different fields working with film and culture for young audiences, nationally and internationally.
