The BUILD project aims to protect, promote and raise awareness of EU fundamental rights & values by supporting civil society organisations in Greece & Cyprus and increasing their capacity and sustainability. Specifically, it will fund a total of 50 CSO projects, through two open calls entitled ‘Enhancing awareness & understanding of EU rights & values’ and ‘Protecting and promoting EU rights & values’, to implement activities including awareness-raising, organisation of civic platforms and civic dialogues, education activities, provision of support services (victim support, advice, training etc) watchdog & monitoring activities, research-based advocacy, promotion of the implementation of adopted laws and activities that support CSOs’ learning & exchange with CSOs in other EU countries . The BUILD project will also provide 170 hours of capacity building activities tailored to the needs of CSOs to promote their organisational development and sustainability. The development of a dedicated project webpage will serve as an information node and enable effective communication and dissemination activities for the promotion of the project’s outputs and results. The main target groups are CSOs, and the project will also directly benefit vulnerable groups such as women, migrants and refugees, people with disabilities, young people, people living in the edge of poverty and unemployed, elderly people and LGBTQI+ people while it will have a wider impact on policy & lawmakers, media/journalists, civil servants/service providers/ teachers and citizens/general public. Through the CSO projects, at least 2500 people (50% women) will participate in training activities, at least 25,000 people will have a greater awareness of EU rights & values and at least 1000 people (mainly vulnerable groups, at least 50% women) will benefit from support services. Additionally, at least 20 new tools, 10 research-based advocacy activities and 5 activities to influence policymaking will be funded.
