Building Alternative Skills to Implement Creativities and Commons

"BASICC is developing skills in the organisation of common spaces in Europe, in connection with the European ""social and local economy"" ecosystem. Our consortium is made up of 17 members (France, Italy, Belgium, Latvia, Turkey and Germany): 10 economic players, 3 vocational training providers, 3 higher education establishments (ES) and EVTA. More specifically, 8 social economy organisations managing vacant common spaces in 5 countries are involved, as well as an audiovisual company and an educational company. The vocational training providers are actors in socio-professional integration present in France (AFPA), Italy (ENAIP NET) and Latvia (Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences). Higher education establishments are developing training and research on the University as a common space in Rennes and France (EHESP and Université Gustave Eiffel), and in Istanbul (Yeditepe University). Our programme covers 2 years. It begins with the creation of a European seminar at ENAIP NET headquarters, to build the ecosystem. We are also developing innovative teaching methods: university degree courses on vacant spaces and their reuse as shared spaces (green skills, level 5), work-linked training leading to a professional qualification as a digital mediation space manager (digital skills, level 5), university training on acquired reflexive skills (resilience skills, level 7) and a digital and narrative platform. Our dissemination strategy is aimed at the managers of our organisations, through a protocol for designing national training courses on the management of common spaces. BASICC also enables learners to take part in a peer learning event on food and culture in common spaces. We communicate with our members and the general public by producing a documentary on the skills developed by the learners. Our evaluation is geared towards policy-makers, to whom we can provide comprehensive analyses of the learning associated with occupying common spaces and the economic impact of the ecosystem created."
