Description
Description | The construction sector's significance in Albania and Kosovo, coupled with its potential for further growth and improvement, highlights the need for ongoing investment in quality, innovation, and skills development. As both countries navigate their respective paths toward economic development, the construction sector stands as a critical pillar, poised for transformation through technology and enhanced regulatory standards. The sector's contribution to the economy is undeniable, yet it remains under-researched, especially in terms of skills needs. The existing workforce's lack of skills is a barrier to the sector's development and quality. Both countries are characterized by low-quality construction, indicating a pressing need for enhanced education and training within the sector. The adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodologies and technologies represents a promising avenue for addressing these challenges. BIM offers a transformative approach to construction, engineering, and architecture by facilitating shared, updated project knowledge, integrating various aspects like calculation, design, and management into a unified system. This approach not only improves material quality, cost, and time optimization but also ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Despite its potential, the implementation level of BIM in both countries is low, with scarce resources available for training professionals in this advanced methodology. The general objective of this project is the development of a curricula and training materials to enhance the skills of students and professionals within the construction workforce in Albania and Kosovo by incorporating Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodologies and technologies. This targeted approach aims to address the critical skills gap in the sector, fostering a deeper understanding and application of BIM to improve construction quality, efficiency, and sustainability. |
