Description

Description

"The project ""Building Bridges"" on the occasion of the 55th partnership anniversary of the town of Kamen with the town of Montreuil-Juigné and the 45th anniversary with the town of Ängelholm, is jointly organised by the three partners. It is aimed at groups of people such as children, teenagers, women and senior citizens with disabilities. The aim is to work through the consequences of the pandemic together and ultimately to build new relationships with people in France, Poland, Turkey and Israel. Participation is independent of whether those interested have already taken part in one of the regular meetings of pupils, children, young people, senior citizens, musicians, artists and private individuals on the topics of climate protection and sustainability, which ran until 2020. The project from 18 to 21 May 2023 is the first European project for this group of participants from politics, administration and civil society after a two-year forced break. The pandemic has severely disrupted most of the existing contacts between people. Building on previous projects, this European project aims to revive the themes of climate protection and sustainability. In workshops and in discussions with politicians, at regulars' tables in pubs, the 300 project participants actively engage with the goals of the European Green Deal. Together they are working out ways of coping with the consequences of the pandemic for the communal future of Europe. Experiencing this European community by approaching each other without regard to gender, skin colour or nationality closes a gap that the pandemic tore, especially in the off-peak hours, as surveys by the city of Kamen in the partner cities have shown. The mix of politics, administration and civil society means that people become multipliers at the same time and thus thousands of other people around the world can benefit from the results of this project and initiate new European projects.
