Description

Description

TEPSA’s main objectives are to raise citizens’ awareness and understanding of EU policy-making; to encourage citizens’ democratic participation; and to build bridges and facilitate interaction between citizens, researchers and policy-makers. With a coherent work programme consisting of awareness raising and dissemination, training and capacity-building as well as analytical activities, TEPSA’s project engages citizens in an open dialogue on what the EU is and how it can develop in the future. The work programme benefits from TEPSA’s European nature: thanks to TEPSA’s network of members in all EU Member States, project activities will reach participants in all EU countries. TEPSA will bring an EU-level perspective to audiences in the Member States, and it will bring the views of citizens and experts from various Member States to Brussels. TEPSA’s 2022 work programme focuses on issues that are salient across Member States such as the state of European democracy, civic participation, efforts to tackle disinformation and fake news, the process of socio-economic recovery from COVID-19, and key EU policy initiatives, e.g. on climate and environment. TEPSA’s project will have a multiplier effect, reaching beyond traditional audiences at the European, national and local levels. Through the project activities (public debates, seminars, multimedia activities, etc.), TEPSA will target citizens, including those from non-specialised circles or not yet engaged in EU affairs; students; civil society; journalists; researchers; and policy-makers. Besides fostering democratic participation, these activities will contribute to an improved understanding of the European Union and its benefits, thereby increasing its legitimacy in citizens’ eyes.
