Description | The Camden Asset Recovery Interagency Network – CARIN, established in 2004, is a transnational network in recovering criminal assets. The overall aim of CARIN is to increase and facilitate operational cooperation between jurisdictions and organisations all over the world in the field of recovery of criminal assets. Today 57 jurisdictions and 9 organisations are members of CARIN. In addition, CARIN supported the establishment of seven Regional Asset Recovery Interagency Networks representing 75 jurisdictions and organisations. In line with the CARIN Strategic Plan for 2018-2021, through this project, the Romanian and Belgium partners that will ensure the Presidency in 2019 and 2020, aim at supporting the main activities of the network. By implementing the activities envisaged by the current project, the following results will be achieved: a. overall coordination and management of the CARIN work ensured by convening regular meetings of the Steering Group; b. CARIN‘s position as a centre of expertise consolidated by addressing and disseminating best practices on current challenges for practioners in asset recovery (main topics of the Annual General Meeting in 2019 and 2020: tracing and recovering criminal assets from corporate structures/entities; asset return and reuse; tracing and recovering virtual currencies); c. cooperation with the regional asset recovery networks strengthened; d. wide international dissemination of information on mandate and best practices developed at CARIN level ensured; e. continuity of efforts to further developing the cooperation with new jurisdictions ensured (offshore jurisdictions – 2019 and MAGREB region - 2020). The following main CARIN activities will be organised through this project: six steering group meetings, two annual general meetings, two thematic training events, dissemination of best practices in up to 24 events, as well as developing policy recommendations for the European Commission and the Council of the European |
