Description
Description | EUJS is the pluralistic and inclusive umbrella organization of national Jewish student unions in Europe. In the 4th year of our framework partnership, we focus on addressing urgent emerging challenges related to the abrupt spike in antisemitic incidents observed since October 7 2023, while continuing to build on the successes of the last 3 years and increasing the impact and capacity of our network of Jewish student unions. As a Jewish and youth organization, our focus is to mitigate the effects of antisemitism on young Jews and promote understanding of this problem through awareness-raising and analytical activities. We promote rights awareness among Jewish students and provide tools for transmitting the memory of the Holocaust to the new generation. From a youth perspective and with a peer-led approach, we promote positive expressions of Jewish life, culture, and tradition, and their contribution towards delivering a more equal and inclusive Europe for all. We organize seminars to foster civic engagement, educate about rights, policy-making processes, and EU mechanisms, and encourage youth participation. We aim to build the capacity needed for our 25-member unions to develop and thrive as an integral and visible part of European societies, despite present growing challenges. Our project feeds into the implementation and development of supported policy initiatives, in particular the EU Strategy on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life, and responds to data showing young Jewish Europeans, our primary target audience, are much more likely to become victims of antisemitism than other age groups. By promoting cross-border cooperation in the fields of combatting antisemitism, racism, and all forms of intolerance, promoting knowledge of Jewish life, preserving the memory of the Holocaust, educating about human rights, increasing democratic participation, and interfaith and intercultural exchanges, we will make a tangible contribution to the CERV programme. |
