Description
Description | Building local capacities through education and local action - the LO-CA project – aims at strengthening the capacity and resilience of vulnerable communities in Ecuador, India, and Vietnam, linking relief, rehabilitation, and development activities focusing on target groups that are the most vulnerable and in need of help (indigenous communities in Ecuador, tribal communities in India and marginalized communities in distant rural areas in Vietnam). The objectives of the project are personal and professional development of young people, especially young people with fewer opportunities, capacity building of youth organisations, and empowerment of the vulnerable local communities. The project consortium consists of 5 partners: KERIC, Slovakia, ADICE, France, VASE, Ecuador, OSVSWA, India, and CSDS, Vietnam. The project foresees involving, training, and deploying 12 volunteers (4 are youth with fewer opportunities) - 8 deployed by KERIC and 4 by ADICE for periods of 12 months within the project duration of 36 months. To each country, we will deploy 2 volunteers at a time. The volunteers will be supported by a local trainee, coordinator, mentor, and other staff. The volunteers will be involved in regular activities with children and youth from vulnerable communities. Apart from the regular activities in the community, the volunteers and trainees will organise small local actions – SLOCAs – to support the sustainable development of these local communities aiming at various areas of community life (Project management, Inclusion, and diversity, Environment and Climate, Human rights, Sustainable local community development). In total, there will be 30 to 60 SLOCAs. Learning how to organise the SLOCAs is part of a LO-CA education programme which will help the volunteers, trainees, and staff also to improve their digital, as well as personal and professional skills. The outputs of this programme will be a SLOCA guide, LO-CA digital guide, and a Virtual SLOCA list. |
