Description | The project aims to support the poor and most vulnerable of the population by providing targeted interventions to provide job opportunities now, improve access to better jobs for tomorrow and build resilience. The project will achieve this through the following three components using a multi-sectoral approach: Component 1 (Connecting Youth and Women to Better Jobs Today) will support youth and women's access wage and self-employment activities in selected urban areas. Component 2 (Investing in People for Better Jobs Tomorrow) aims to directly support vulnerable households, comprising three subcomponents designed to address different aspects of human capital development and resilience through cash transfers. Sub-component 2.1 will support the provision of a unconditional cash transfers; sub-component 2.2 will provide human capital co-responsibility cash transfers for health and nutrition as well as education; and sub-component 2.3 will provide financing of emergency cash transfers in response to a potential future climate-related shock and establish a contingent funding mechanism. Component 3 (Adaptive Social Protection Delivery Systems and Project Management) supports three key areas crucial for the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of social protection interventions in Somalia. Sub-component 3.1 supports institutional capacity building for adaptive social protection systems; sub-component 3.2 finances a National Socio-economic Survey for the Unified Social Registry; and sub-component 3.3 finances enhancement of institutional capacities of manage social protection programs in Somalia through establishment of Project Implementation Units. |
