Description

Description

In Yemen, around 20.7 million people - 66 percent of the population - are dependent on humanitarian aid in 2021. Access to basic health services is not guaranteed or only limited for large parts of the population. The project aims to contribute to strengthening the resilience of health facilities and the population in the project areas (impact). This is to be achieved by stabilizing and improving access to and use of public health facilities. In addition, the project contributes to strengthening social cohesion with the aim of taking into account the key needs of vulnerable population groups in particular and increasing the use of health services in the financed facilities in all population groups (outcome). Key measures and results are rehabilitation and repair of health facilities including stabilization of the functionality of drinking water and sanitation supplies, waste disposal and electricity, construction of isolation wards for the treatment of infectious diseases, in particular COVID-19 training measures for health personnel. The target group of the project is the population of the selected districts with a particular focus on vulnerable groups such as women. The project sponsor is the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
