Description
Description | The BREAKS project aspires to address the urgent need for increased physical activity in school settings across Europe, with a focus on inclusion, and diversity. Situated within the framework of European Union priorities of ‘Encouraging Healthy Lifestyles for All’ and ‘Promoting Education in and Through Sport’ the project is committed to delivering an innovative, measurable, and sustainable impact. For achieving that, a training program and a set of tools for schoolteachers will be designed, developed and tested, providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge and resources to organize and implement movement breaks in the classroom, while raising awareness among school leaders on the importance of promoting physical activity in schools. Main activities of the project include the design, development, and implementation of an innovative tailored-made professional development training program for primary and lower secondary schoolteachers, on how to incorporate inclusive active break activities in their classrooms, promote students’ engagement with physical activity, and develop key competences. An e-learning platform for teachers will be created to increase the exploitation of the BREAKS training program and its impact across Europe. The program will be widely tested and validated, involving teachers’ training series and implementation of active breaks in real classroom settings, while a series of dissemination activities will be implemented. The partnership includes three HEIs (UPatras, FSFV, Uniroma) and three SMEs (INQUIRIUM, Stimmuli, Innominds) from 5 EU countries. |
