Description

Description

This program continues the support of UNICEF's commitment in Iraq in the area of child protection that began as part of the project Strengthening the resilience of refugees and host communities in the context of the Syria and Iraq crises (BMZ No. 201567932). To this end, the German side is providing UNICEF with a financial contribution of up to EUR 5 million. Access to and the quality of protective measures and psychosocial care are to be expanded with additional funds in other communities in the provinces of Duhok, Erbil and Sulaymaniya, in some cases with a specific focus on victims of gender-based violence. This program has an implementation period of 12 months (beginning December 2015). The individual measures include the establishment of new and the expansion of existing protective facilities with regard to specific psychosocial care services for victims of gender-based violence, professional training for care staff working in the protection zones, the creation of suitable information materials and awareness campaigns for affected children and their families, and monitoring measures for quality assurance.
