Description

Description

The Federal Executive Council awarded a concession to Eko Support Services for the re-development of port facilities at Bullnose, Lagos Port Complex, Apapa. The contract was to upgrade the berthing facilities at the Lagos port. The company was also expected to develop oil and gas operational facilities on 20-years build-and-operate agreement. The berth lenght was to increase from 287 metres to 400 metres, while dredging and reclamation works were also part of the works (increasing the old 5.4 metre draft to a 12 metre depth). A new terminal was to increase terminal operations and container stacking capacity in the port by adding a back-up area of 17,000 square meters to the old 4.147 hectares. Eko Support Services Limited is a 100% wholly owned Nigerian company. Boskalis from the Netherlands was contracted for dredging while Prodeco was to build the quay side, and Trevi for the piling and foundations. The contractor was to run the facility for 20 years, worth $124.4 million (N20 billion). Construction was expected to start in March 2012 and the construction time was estimated to be 24 to 30 months.
