Description

Description

Bumibiopower Sdn Bhd, a private company established in Malaysia as a renewable energy power company, constructed a RM26.6 million palm oil waste powered plant in Pantai Remis, Perak, which was to have a capacity to produce 6.3MWs. Under the power purchase agreement signed with Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) in October of 2001, TNB would pay 16.7 sen per kilowatt hour or RM6.6 million a year to Bumibiopower for 21 years, a rate 38% higher compared with its previous power purchase agreements (PPAs) with other independent power producers (IPPs). The project had begun generating power by 2004. Biomass was abundantly available from palm oil milling in the form of empty fruit branches and shells. Under a 21-year power supply agreement, adjacent Pantai Remis Palm Oil Mill would provide this waste it generates to the plant. None None
