Burkina Faso - Land use planning study

The present study was designed within the framework of the development of the National Scheme of Spatial Planning (SNAT) in Burkina Faso. This schema, being a spatial translation of the development policy and strategic choices of a society, should should these strategic orientations from the project of society which constitutes its framing. In the case of Burkina Faso, this prospective study also known as "Burkina 2025", currently under development, scheduled for completion in mid-June 2004, should lead to a forward-looking framework on a consensual vision of the country's future, which will be the terms of reference of the SNAT. This study has three phases. The first deals with the problematic and the main factors of evolution of Burkinabe society. The second, on the construction of scenarios (possible images of the country's future environment and specific contexts). The third relates to the formulation of the 2025 vision on the future of the shared and desired country by society as well as on the long-term development strategies to operationalize this vision.
