Burkina Faso - Rural Electrification Study

This project concerns the Rural Electrification Study in Burkina Faso. This study focuses on two main phases, namely: (A) Diagnosis and Analysis of ER Development Options and (B) Definition of an ER Program. The first phase consists of: (i) the diagnosis which relates to: a) energy context of the country, with the characterization of the electrical sub-sector and more particularly that of the rural electrification; (b) rural electrification market, with the characterization of consumers, economic operators and the financial system; c) analysis of previous ER experiences; and (ii) analysis of rural electrification development options that addresses the development of proposals on critical aspects for the sustainability of the ER program. The second phase relates to: (i) definition of an optimized program of ER for the period 2003-2014 and its phasage, the elaboration of the ODA, which includes the preparation of the documents necessary for the execution (iii) presentation of the results of the phase studies.
