Burkina Faso - Rural Hydraulics Project

The present intervention concerns the Rural Hydraulics Project. It’s in line with the Government's priorities. The project is expected to contribute significantly to the implementation of water policy objectives in rural areas of Burkina Faso by providing 20 litres per capita per day of drinking water by 1997. It includes several achievements, namely: (i) studies and location of boreholes; (ii) completion of 500 productive boreholes; (iii) supply and installation of 500 human-powered pumps; (iv) construction of superstructures; (v) supervision and control of works; (vi) training of craftsmen; (vii) creation of a spare parts circuit; and (viii) project unit.
