Burkina Faso - Second Road Programme

The Second Road Programme is a component of a transport sector development program. It is designed because of the natural adversities, the internal and external opening up of the entire national territory. Its implementation of the project is decisive for the revival of national economic activities. The expected project outputs are i) 620 km of fully rehabilitated earth roads, ii) 804 km of earth roads maintained in keeping with the stipulated periodic road maintenance standards, iii) strengthening of the road data bank through the procurement of special road deterioration measuring and data processing equipment and iv) identification of local road materials. In particular, it should make it possible to develop agricultural and pastoral production and improve the standard of living of resident populations. The main project components are: i) earth roads rehabilitation works (about 620 km) and periodic earth roads maintenance (about 804 km); ii) works control and inspection; iii) search for road materials; iv) support for the road data base (RDB); and v) Audit of the programme.
