Description | Bursagaz was created to carry out natural gas distribution Bursa city in 1997. The company was a subsidiary of Botas Petroleum Pipeline Corporation, which in turn was a subsidiary of state-owned Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO). Bursagaz was privatized April in 2004 when the Turkish privatization administration sold 100% stake to Calik Energy and Industry Company (Calik Holding) for US$120 million. The company was put on the privatization scheme in September 2002 and was sold through a block sale to Calik Holding. The final price (US$120 million) resulted from a final price negotiation. In April 2007, German energy firm EWE reached an agreement to buy 39.9% stake in Bursagaz. In Novemeber 2008, EWE acquired an additional 40.15 stake in Bursagaz from Calik Group, increasing its stake to 80%.
