Description | The Burton Green HS2 tunnel is a 700-metre-long, 16-metre-wide twin-box-shaped tunnel designed to carry high-speed trains beneath Burton Green, near Kenilworth. It features internal walls separating northbound and southbound trains. The tunnel is structurally complete, and work will now focus on a 500-metre-long green roof to blend with local greenery and provide a green space linking both sides of Burton Green village. The Kenilworth Greenway will run above the tunnel, providing a link for walkers, cyclists, and horse-riders. Excavated material will be reused for landscaping, and native planting will enhance biodiversity. |
