Description
Description | The Statistical Capacity Building Project for Poverty Monitoring and Evaluation is part of a programme supported by the African Development Bank Group to build the capacity of the Burundian administration, which includes four other projects. The programme, worth €6.61 million, aims to provide technical assistance to the Burundian administration and help strengthen its institutional capacities. The project covered by this grant involves providing international technical assistance to the national team for in-depth analyses of data on poverty and the labour market in Burundi. In other words, this support includes a contract with an international consultancy firm responsible for providing this assistance. The project came at a time when the Government had just put in place a national strategy for the development of statistics, with the aim of establishing a national statistical system that: (i) is operational, producing statistics in all areas of life; (ii) has adequate human and technical capacity; (iii) complies with current international and regional standards and methods; and (iv) produces reliable, comparable and harmonised data in a coordinated manner. It has two components: (i) improving the poverty monitoring and evaluation system and (ii) supporting training. |
