Bus Hoists

Bus hoist replacements. There are over 140 bus hoists located in bus garages throughout the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). These hoists are in varying degrees of age and condition. A condition assessment was completed in 2011 identifying 123 hoists requiring replacement at the following bus garages which are being replaced under this project: 1. Arrow Road Garage (16); 2. Duncan Shop (40); 3. Lakeshore Garage (15); 4. Malvern Garage (17); 5. Wilson Garage (16); 6. Eglinton Garage (16); 7. Mount Dennis Garage (2); 8. Birchmount Garage (1) Other work covered under this project includes Implementation of bus hoist safety zones at all hoist positions and the required facility modifications which include lubertoriums, exhaust ducts, lighting, line painting, repositioning of doorways and walkways to facilitate scheduled maintenance of the new fleet of articulated buses. Hoist replacements contribute to increased capacity and increased lifespan of bus garages which are kept in a better state of good repair.
