Description | BUTTERFLY EFFECT, based on the idea that small variations in the initial conditions produce large variations in the long-term attitude of a community, will address racial incidents, that are frequently experienced by youth from ethnic minorities and immigrant backgrounds. General objective is strengthening the capacity of young people, the educational community and youth organizations to tackle hate incidents and support young victims through an intersectional and gender-sensitive approach. The project focuses on capacity building for youngsters, educational communities, youth organisations and educational authorities to find new and innovative solutions and recognise that tackling hate is a responsibility of all. The project will take place in Italy, Austria, Croatia and Greece, implementing these activities: WP2 Research to outline the characteristics of hate incidents among young people and draft recommendations on how to respond to them. WP3 Specific curricula, training for trainers and capacity building of youth and educational communities to improve knowledge and gain tools to tackle hate incidents and support young victims. WP4 Strengthening youth ambassadors through capacity building and European exchange to identify innovative events and awareness raising actions against all forms of racism. WP5 Social media campaign and advocacy meetings at national and European level to raise awareness of young people, educational authorities and general public on the impact of hate incidents on youngsters’ lives. Results and impacts: 1 Young people improve their capacity in recognizing hate incidents and supporting peers 2 The educational community is more aware of the impact of hate incidents and is able to support young victims 3 Youth organizations and activists are strengthened in order to respond to racist incidents 4 Enhanced public awareness and knowledge on racist incidents among young people will support advocacy activities to change local and national policies. |
