Lower Nyadi Hydroelectric Project Company, was developing the 4.5MW Lower Nyadi hydropower plant, on the Lower Nyadi River, Lamjung District. Butwal was a privatized company (2003), and is 15% owned by the government of Nepal. Majority ownership (69%) is held by Shangri-La Energy Limited. The project was reported as operational by the NEA in August 2005. No further information was available. The project was purchased by Butwal Power Company from LEDCO in 2006, with the plan to expand it to 20MW, which is currently upgraded to 30MW. Under LEDCO, the project conducted its feasibility study in 2000, and the EIA was conducted by Butwal Power Company - approved and obtained in March 2000. The 30MW expanded plan has completed its feasibility study. The PPA and Connection Agreement with the NEA were also started, and progressing (not completed). Construction was expected to start in 2012, and commissioning was planned for 2015. Total output was to be 168GWh annually, to be evacuated via the Marsyangdi Corridor Transmission Line, planned by NEA at Khudi Hub. Consulting was provided by Hydro Consult, from Kathmandu. Underground design was performed by Mott Macdonald International (UK). Total cost was estimated at US$6 million. Financial closure date was ESTIMATED at January 2005.
