Description | BYD has built its first electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Europe, located in the Hungarian city of Szeged. The project is a key part of BYD's expansion in Europe, with a planned investment of 4 billion euros and a production capacity of up to 200,000 cars per year, which can be doubled in the second phase. Production was initially expected to begin in late 2025 but was postponed to the fourth quarter of 2026. The European Commission launched an investigation into state aid for the plant's construction in 2025, but BYD confirms its intention to complete the construction and use the plant as its main production hub for the European market. |
