Information Northeast Frontier Railway [NFR] - II has come up with Byrnihat-Shillong New Rail Line- 108 km with a ticket size of 8342.28 INR Crores. This project in Railway Track sub-sector involves The current status of the project is - and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project Byrnihat- Shillong involves the development of 108.4 km railway line for the improvement of network in the North Eastern region. This National Project on completion will provide direct rail connectivity to Shillong, capital of Meghalaya. The new rail line will also decrease the distance between the cities and incorporate a special node in the tourist traffic and freight movement between Assam and Meghalaya. Revised Targeted Date of Completion- Not yet fixed on account of implementation hurdles Financial Progress [as of 22/05/2023]-3.19percentage Last meeting for resumption of work with CS/Meghalaya and GM/CON/NFR held on 25.03.2022. Recent meeting with DGP/Meghalaya and CAO/C-3 held on 05.07.2022.GM/CON raised this issue in DONER meeting held in Guwahati on 08.10.2022, but matter not yet resolved.
