Description | In April 2000, the municipality of Canarana, in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, awarded a 30-year build, rehabilitate, operate and transfer contract for its water and sewage infrastructure to private company Montgomery Watson Ltda. In 2000, the town of Canarana had a population of 18,002. The special purpose company Companhia Ambiental de Canarana (CAC) undertook the operations of the water and sewerage facilities. The concession was awarded through an open competitive tender. No information was available on the number of final bidders. In July 2010, Cab Ambiental (Grupo Galvão ) acquired the ownership of Montgomery Watson and created the special purpose company Cab Canarana to manage the project. Cab Canarana announced it would invest US$ 14.8 million (BRL 26 million) over the concession’s remaining lifetime. |
