Calcasieu Pass 2 (CP2) LNG Export Terminal

Venture Global has reached a $15.1 billion final investment decision (FID) for the first phase of its Calcasieu Pass 2 (CP2) terminal, a US liquefied natural gas export terminal. The first phase will have a nameplate capacity of 14.4 million tonnes per annum. The project received backing from 29 banks with $34 billion in commitments and did not require outside equity investment to proceed. Site work began in June 2025 after receiving final federal approval, with a target for first LNG in 2027. The second phase FID is expected by mid-2026, with commercial operations for phase one scheduled by mid-2029 and phase two by mid-2030. The full project will have a peak export capacity of 28 million tonnes per annum once both phases are complete.
