Calcine Disposition Project Control System

The Idaho Cleanup Project team developed state-of-the-art process control panels to ensure coordinated operation of a waste retrieval system and robotic equipment for the Calcine Disposition Project. The control system uses redundant industrial computers connected via a fiber-optic network, allowing simultaneous operation of multiple equipment pieces and quick reconfiguration for different equipment needed to safely remove radioactive waste. The project focuses on transferring granulated calcine from large concrete silos (bin sets) for disposition, with the technology adaptable for all six bin sets.
